About Me
I’m so glad you found your way here. Nothing makes me happier than knowing that another new or expecting mother has the chance to avoid the common struggles of postpartum recovery and instead—dare I say—feel even better than before pregnancy.

Allow me to introduce myself
My name is Ameya Duprey, and I’m the founder of Fully Healed Mama. As a board certified Ayurvedic practitioner, AyurDoula, Medi-Cal credentialed doula, CMT, author and teacher, I’ve spent the last decade helping postpartum mamas fully heal from birth.
It is my mission to help you truly recover—not just “get by” but fully restore your energy and well-being so you can be present with your children, your partner, and yourself.
Motherhood is one of the greatest acts of giving. We give our bodies to create and sustain life. We give our hearts. We sacrifice—a lot. Too often, we sacrifice our own well-being.
One of the biggest mistakes we make as new mothers is ignoring our own needs after birth. Postpartum recovery is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. Our bodies undergo a profound transformation. We need time to heal, and above all, we need support.
Yet, in the Western world, postpartum care is virtually nonexistent. Prenatal care and birth take center stage, and once the baby is born, the mother is often left to navigate recovery alone. But healing after birth is just as important as preparing for it.
That’s why I’m here—to change that.
A Time-Tested Approach to Postpartum Recovery

Many of us didn’t grow up with a lineage of postpartum wisdom passed down from our mothers and grandmothers. But that wisdom still exists.
Ayurveda, India’s traditional holistic healing system, offers a beautiful and time-tested postpartum care system that uses the elements of nature, healing foods, and self-care practices to:
- Rejuvenate your body
- Support a strong milk supply
- Balance your hormones and mood
- Help you fully recover from birth
Postpartum care isn’t just about surviving—it’s about thriving.

My Story: How I Found My Calling

It all began when I was 19 years old, on a spiritual quest in Hawaii. I stumbled upon a book on Ayurveda, and my world opened up. The idea of food as medicine fascinated me.
A year later, I found myself in Boulder, CO, living at an Ayurvedic ashram and studying under my first teacher, Alakananda Ma. I immersed myself in Ayurvedic cooking, herbal medicine, and holistic healing.
Then, at 21 years old, I became pregnant.
Like many first-time moms, I focused on prenatal care, the birth, and gathering baby supplies. I didn’t focus on postpartum recovery—because no one told me I needed to.
After a 72-hour home birth, I was completely depleted. I lost a lot of blood, was bedridden for three weeks, and then—just as I was starting to regain strength—my baby developed colic.

I thought I knew about digestion and postpartum nutrition (I was eating kitchari, after all!), but I quickly realized I didn’t understand the intricacies of postpartum rejuvenation.
One day, an Ayurvedic postpartum doula friend came over and gave me an Ayurvedic postpartum massage. It was life-changing. She encouraged me to train as an AyurDoula. At the time, I was too overwhelmed to consider it—but the seed was planted.
Years later, I realized just how many mothers were suffering unnecessarily after birth. The exhaustion, anxiety, low milk supply, mood swings, and relationship struggles—none of it was normal.
I knew I had to be part of the solution.
I studied Ayurvedic postpartum care under Ysha Oakes, one of the few experts in the field at the time. In 2011, I became an AyurDoula, helping new mothers recover through healing foods, oil massages, belly binding, herbal support, and traditional self-care practices.
I witnessed firsthand how transformative this type of care could be—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually.
But I also realized something else: This wisdom wasn’t reaching enough mothers.

So, in 2017, I launched ShaktiCare, an Ayurvedic postpartum care blog. Then, in 2020, I wrote my cookbook, Mama’s Menu: Ayurvedic Recipes for Postpartum Healing, to make nourishing postpartum foods more accessible.
In 2021, I created The Natural Recovery Method, an on-demand postpartum healing course that helps new and expecting mamas fully recover from birth. Along with my cookbook, this course makes it easier for mamas everywhere to access the tools they need for a smooth and rejuvenating postpartum experience.
And now, I’m honored to help new and expecting mamas worldwide through my courses, 1-on-1 coaching, and online community.
Bringing Ayurvedic Postpartum Care to More Mothers

One of my biggest missions is making postpartum recovery support more accessible.
In 2023, I became credentialed as a Medi-Cal doula, allowing me to serve mothers in underserved communities who might not otherwise have access to postpartum care.
This has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my work—bringing Ayurvedic healing to those who need it most.
Now, I’m thrilled to share that commercial insurance plans are starting to cover doula services, too! This is a huge step forward in making postpartum care a recognized necessity rather than a luxury.
If you’re interested in learning how to get your doula care covered, I’d love to help guide you through the process.
Beyond Birth Work: What Lights Me Up
While helping mamas heal is my passion, I also have a few other deep loves:
- Indian Classical Dance (Odissi) – This is my soul’s joy. Dancing for the Divine has taken me across the world—to India, Greece, France, Italy, and temples in the U.S. When I’m not helping mamas, I’m dancing!
- Traveling to the tropics – The ocean is my happy place. I feel most at peace when I’m by the sea, soaking in the sun, and breathing in the salty air.
- Nature, plants, and rural living – I feel most alive when I’m surrounded by the beauty of nature.
- My family – They are my heart, my anchor, and my greatest blessing.
